Background & Aim: Restless legs syndrome is a disorder in which a person feels uncomfortable, especially at nights in the limbs, and needs to move the legs. This situation worsens with rest and at night. The purpose of this study was to investigate restless legs syndrome and its severity in nursing students.
Material And Method: This descriptive cross-sectional study conducted in 1396, 137 nursing students from the 7th and 8th semester of Islamic Azad University of Fars province were selected. Data collection was done using a questionnaire based on the International Society for the Study of Restless Legs Syndrome and screening of severity.
Results: The results showed that 51% of students suffered from restless leg syndrome. The average score of restless leg syndrome in the affected group was 12.02 (SD = 4.69).There was no significant difference between male and female sex with restless legs syndrome (p = 337).
Conclusion: Regarding the high prevalence of restless legs syndrome in nursing students and the lack of diagnosis and timely treatment of this disorder, identifying the factors associated with this syndrome and providing the necessary solutions for correcting or eliminating effective factors seems necessary.
