Background & Aim: one of the most widespread diagnostic methods and treatments of cardiac disease is coronary angiography which leads to increasing patients anxiety and puts them at risk. The purpose of this study is determining the effect of light music on physiological parameters of anxiety in patients undergoing coronary angiography.

Material & Methods: In this quasi – experimental study 80 patients under coronary angiography admitted in CCU ward of  Dezful Ganjavian Hospital were studied. The sample was selected base on target sampling, then randomly assigned into two music and control groups. Data collection instruments included questionnaire and anxiety physiological parameters check list consist of pulse rate, respiratory rate, systolic and diastolic blood pressure. The check list were filled one hour before coronary angiography, then music group patients listen to light music tape with earphone and headphone for 20 minutes, before and after listening light music, physiological parameters were recorded. In control group this parameters were assessed without listening light music. In order to analyze data, SPSS Software and descriptive and inferential statistics tests were used.

Results: Comparing the means of physiological parameters before and after the intervention showed significant differences (p<0/001) .i.e ,the means of pulse rate, respiratory rate, systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure decreased after intervention.

Conclusion: Light music is effective method to reducing anxiety physiological parameters in patients undergoing coronary angiography and so it is recommended that this complementary method is used before diagnostic tests such as coronary angiography.
