Background & Aim: Clinical audit is a quality improvement process, with the aim of raising the quality of services provided to patients and the its results. This study was conducted to determine the relation between medical audit performance and quality of nursing services in surgery unit of Tehran Hasheminejad hospital' in order to evaluation and improvement the quality of services.
Material & Methods: This study is analytical study conducted at Tehran Hasheminejad hospital in 2013. The statistical society of the study was the data that gathered by standard checklists of the Tehran University, pre and post implementation of medical audit,the data was analyzed using SPSS7 by Pearson correlation coefficient test to determine the relation between medical audit and nursing process.
Results: In studied dimensions, there were not a significant relation between clinical audit performance and controlled cares (p=0.2), primary care(p=0.69) and drug actions (p=0.18). there were a significant relation between clinical audit performance and working with electroshock (p=0.02), oxigen therapy (p=0.05), CPR (p=0.04), controlling and monitoring (p=0.03), patient and companinos education (p=0.03), the process of avoiding drug mistakes (p=0.01) and client glorification (P=0.03).
Conclusion According to the results, the following strategies are recommended for improving the medical audit; identify barriers to implementation of clinical audit, review problems as a team, providing solutions that improve the quality and the correct implementation and continuous promotion of nurses.
