Introduction: The genus Malassezia yeasts, yeasts are lipophilic Bazydyvmayst as members of the microbial flora of humans and warm-blooded animals often are. Seborrheic dermatitis is a chronic inflammatory disease of the skin surface is observed in adult men. The aim of this study was to investigate the prevalence of Malassezia in Lorestan, Bakhtiari nomads.
Materials & methods: sampling techniques chip was taken from dandruff head and behind the ears. Sample of 100 subjects (50 healthy subjects and 50 patients with seborrheic dermatitis) and on the Lymyng - Nvtmn agar was modified crops. Macroscopic and microscopic studies were performed on colonies of Malassezia in pure culture.
Results: In this study of yeast cells to the total sample of patients with seborrheic dermatitis in 27 (54%) patients, and 17 patients (34%) showed growth of yeast colonies. In healthy individuals, the total amount of yeast cells in the samples, 24 (48%) patients and 14 (28%) showed growth of yeast colonies.
Conclusion: The findings showed that Malassezia yeasts in 51% of cases and 31% of the direct examination of the cultures were isolated.
