Hypertension N2 - Introduction: Cardiovascular diseases are the most important factors related to mortality and cause of death in developed countries and Iran. Several studies in the field of cardiovascular diseases indicate that prevention of cardiovascular diseases and their recurrence need to upgrade of awareness of patients about risk factors. Aim of this study was to determine the frequency of risk factors in hospitalized patients in CCU ward of Imam Khomeini Hospital in Borujerd during 1388 and 1389. Material & Methods: This sectional descriptive study performed on 260 patients admitted in CCU ward of Imam Khomeini Hospital in Borujerd during 1388 and 1389. Sampling was done by a census of all patients in the second half of 1388 and first half of 1389 .Data collection tool was a questionnaire that examines the age, sex and risk factors (hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, smoking and opium use, drugs, previous admission history, family history and obesity). Results: The results showed the major risk factors were hypercholesterolemia (%60), Hypertension (%29), smoking (%23) and the family history (%17). Conclusion: The findings showed that the most important risk factor in the under study population was hypercholestrolemia that could indicate high prevalence of bad food habits and sedentary activities. Therefore, it's recommended that the most activities of health care teams should be focused on the change of dietary habits and increase physical activity to control hypercholesterolemia. M3 ER -
