Background & Aim: Nowadays, One of the problems in the present age is loneliness that has many side effects. One of the problems that cause by loneliness is alexithymia. The aim of this study is investigating the relationship between alexithymia and loneliness in nursing and midwifery students of Islamic Azad University branch Dezful.        

Material & Methods: The study population included all students who were studying in Nursing and Midwifery Azad University branch Dezful in the 94-93 year. 258 of them were selected by simple random sampling .the data was gathered by questionnaire (Toronto alexithymia 1989 TAS - and social loneliness questionnaire - Bzrgsalan2004- SELSA responded emotionally). To analyze the data, we applied Pearson correlation and linear regression.

Results: The results showed that a significant relationship between alexithymia with loneliness in students (p <0. 001 and r =0. 236).

Conclusion: This study showed that the higher alexithymia in relationship with loneliness so that hypothesis was accepted.
