Background & Aim: Diabetes is a disease with long and short term side effects. The most important way to control the disease complications is adherence of a healthy lifestyle. Adherence of preventive lifestyle is completely related with patient adaptation. The aim of this study was to explore the effective factors on compliance of preventive lifestyle within a sample of diabetic patients type I.
Material & Methods: The qualitative analysis led to the emergence of the four themes from the data  that explained facilitator and inhibitors factors on adherence of preventive life style: "individual factors; awareness, time, maintaining health", "psychological factors; illness perception and disease adaptation", "social  factors; social economics social class, social support, social network, health services", and "disease stage".
Results: From the data analysis, four main themes of "individual factors", awareness, time, health, "psychological factors", perception and adaptation to the disease, "social factors", economic status, social support, network of social relations and health services and "nature Disease "was formed.
Conclusion: Since most important influencing factors on adherence of preventive life style were family social support and psychological adaption, providing supporting system and raising public awareness of long term complication in this chronic disease is necessary.
