Background & Objectives: Infertility leads to sexual and marital dissatisfaction. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of counseling on infertile women’s sexual and marital satisfaction in fertility center in Tehran.
Materials and Methods: This is a controlled clinical trial study on 100 eligible , infertile women . convenience sampling method was applied then samples randomly divided into two groups (50 women in counseling and 50 women in control groups). Data were collected through 3 demographic , marital and sexual satisfaction revealed lower satisfaction . finally, Data were analyzed with SPSS software and χ2 , Mann Whitney and willcoxon test(p <0/05).
Results: The average of marital satisfaction in counseling group was 50.23 and in the control group was 54.97. We have obtained a considerable difference between two groups 3 months after intervention by man-Whitney test (U=776.000, P=0.036). The average of sexual satisfaction in counseling group was 36.11 and in the control group was 40.04. There was a significant difference between two group 3 months after intervention (U=741.500, P=0. 019).
Conclusion: The results of this study supported that consultation sessions related infertility increased the sexual and marital satisfaction amongst infertile women.
