Background and Objectives: As the experience of using traditional Chinese acupuncture to improve menopausal symptoms deepens, more clinical evidence has been obtained to support the efficacy and safety of this treatment concept, which is often used in China and has attracted the attention of researchers. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to describe a case of treatment of menopausal symptoms and ovarian follicle growth in a 51-year-old postmenopausal woman.
Case Report: This study is a case report of a 51-year-old woman diagnosed with menopause who, after performing six weekly sessions of manual and electronic acupuncture treatment and following the tips related to lifestyle modification, her menopausal complications were significantly reduced. Also, in the ultrasound of the uterus and appendages, a 15 mm follicle was observed in the left ovary.
Conclusion: Our acupuncture treatment was able to have positive benefits in reducing hot flashes, vaginal dryness, improving sleep, changes in the level of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) as well as the development of follicles in postmenopausal women. Given the society's tendency towards complementary medicine, more attention and investigation of researchers in these areas is suggested.
