Abstract:   (16 Views)
Nurses, as essential members of the healthcare system, play a pivotal role in disease prevention, treatment improvement, and patient care. Their contributions extend beyond clinical outcomes, influencing the economic efficiency of healthcare systems through reduced mortality, lower infection rates, and decreased re-hospitalization. The theme for International Nurses Day 2024, “Nurses: Our Future, the Economic Power of Care,” emphasizes the need for greater investment in nursing, particularly in the context of expanding specialization and strengthening health systems.
The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the indispensable role of nurses while exposing challenges such as poor working conditions, low salaries, and workforce shortages that threaten the stability of healthcare systems. Investing in nursing enhances system efficiency, ensures universal health coverage, and safeguards both patient well-being and societal health.
To optimize the role of nurses, it is essential to strengthen their professional recognition, provide supportive work environments, and adopt innovative technologies to reduce workload. Such measures not only improve care quality and patient safety but also contribute to long-term economic sustainability.
