Background and Objectives: Violence against women is a major public health problem and a violation of women's human rights. Identifying at-risk cases will help prevent its unpleasant consequences. Therefore, this study was conducted to determine the frequency of domestic violence and its types in married pregnant women living in Asadabad.

Materials and Methods:  This cross-sectional study was conducted on 260 married pregnant women in Asadabad in 2021 who were selected by available sampling method. The tool used in this research was a researcher-made domestic violence questionnaire. This questionnaire has faced validity and reliability with Cronbach's alpha coefficient of 0.9, which was given to all pregnant women referring to urban health centers and the average score of all types of psychological, physical, economic, sexual, verbal, social, emotional violence, patriarchal beliefs and learning violence was obtained according to the scores obtained from the questionnaire. It was analyzed using spss software and descriptive statistics.

Results: The mean age of women in this study was (28.7 ± 6.1) and the mean age of their husbands was (34.2 ± 5.31). The highest level of violence was related to patriarchal beliefs with an average score of 108.43±21.38 and the lowest score was seen in the field of verbal violence with a score of 13.30±2.46. In general, the average total score of domestic violence was 28.47±28.89. The results of univariate analysis with linear regression showed that there was a significant relationship between gestational age, income, education and occupation of the couple, housing status, fetal sex status, pregnancy status, medical history and drug use history of the spouse with domestic violence score in pregnancy. The results of multivariate linear regression analysis showed a significant relationship between unplanned pregnancy and domestic (p-value˂0.001).

Conclusion: Considering the results obtained on the state of domestic violence and its related important factors, a domestic violence screening in prenatal care is recommended to be performed with emphasis on the identified risk factors.
