Satisfaction of girl students frompuberty health programs in Babol City, 2013. 3 2015; 6 (1 and 2) :47-54

Background & Aim: Adolescents, as a largest proportion from world population, in their puberty period faced with many physical, mental andsocial problems.So, implementation of health education programs for adolescent girls about puberty health is essential. The present study aimsto describe the student’s satisfaction of puberty health inBabol City.

Material & Methods: Thepresent research was a cross-sectional study that was conducted in 2013 year in the Babol city;reference population included allgirl students at fifth and sixth elementary classes (according with classification schools in Islamic Republic of Iran), these subjectswere selected by census method (2535 participants). The toolsstudy was based-researchers, which validity and reliability was measured (cronbach’salpha=0.86). Data analyzed using SPSS software version 18.

Results:In total of the students, 42.6%were urban residence and 52.9% of participantsaregraduating in school with health keepers. The mostproportion sources ofreceiving information about puberty health were, respectively, health staffs, families, health educators and media. Almost two-third of students have been declaredthe educationcourse provided to by health center is benefit, however, this beneficial in rural region schools was higher (p≤0.001). About two-third of students hadn’t beenreceived any information about puberty health by their parents and more than 40 percent of students hadn’t been satisfied from length time of education and it’s length duration was very short.

Conclusion: The findings of this study showed the effectiveness of education programs in promoting awareness of adolescent girls about puberty health by health centers. Therefore, this study emphasizes onincreasing numbers and length of education.
